Your personal invitation to a special community celebration!
R.S.V.P. by June 10 |

Main Sales Letter excerpt |
|
I hope you’ll accept this special invitation to be my guest at Gray’s Field Day, June 19-20!
Dear Friend and Neighbor,
I’m writing to invite you – and other specially selected friends in our community – to sit down, please.
Take a seat, that is, in a lawn chair – after you’ve enjoyed the midway of activities, prizes, entertainment, excitement and fun at Gray’s Field Day on June 19-20. And since you’ll be my guest, I’ll spring for a free hot dog, chips and soda.
It’s one way I can thank you for becoming a Friend of Gray’s Field. And to make sure you’re a part of this very special event.
The truth is, I feel like celebrating. And I want the entire Calvert community to join me.
It’s been just one year since a group of residents banded together to restore historic Gray’s Field on Fowler Road in Owings – once home to The Negro Leagues’ Owings Eagles.
This group -- Gray’s Field Foundation – has accumulated enough support to renovate the soccer pitch on The Field without using a single taxpayer dollar. And come June 19-20, the facility’s first phase Grand Opening will take place at Gray’s Field Day and Soccer Tournament.
Plus, we’re ready to enter our next phase of restoration: rebuilding the baseball diamond. And we’ve set our sights at enlisting 127 new members to join us.
How did we choose that number? From the measurements of a regulation baseball diamond, of course. There were 127 feet between home plate and second base on Gray’s Baseball Field in its heydey – and they’ll be there again when it’s rebuilt.
I envision one new Friend for every foot on that line of the renovated field. And I’d like you to be one of those members.
In just a minute, I’ll tell you about the many benefits you’ll receive when you become a Friend of Gray’s Field. But first, let me share with you why your membership is so important to the southern Maryland community.
Allow me share a personal story... |
